Program Description

This is a broad based program that prepares school professionals to teach core curriculum subjects including arts education, health, language arts, mathematics, physical education, science and social studies at the pre-kindergarten to grade nine level. The program consists of three components: academic courses taken outside the Faculty of Education, professional courses taken within the Faculty and in-school classroom experiences.

Experiential Learning for Young Children, Contemporary Perspectives and Challenges in Early Childhood Education, Physical Education in the Elementary School, Curriculum as Cultural and Social Practice: Teaching Literacy for a Better World.

Career Opportunities:
Graduates find work in child and youth services, community development, curriculum development, daycare, elementary school teaching, middle years teaching or preschool teaching.
