British Columbia Admission Requirements


Update on the use of Provincial Exams:

The University of Regina is pleased to announce a change to the admissions average calculation process for British Columbia students. Effective immediately, the University of Regina will calculate the admission average for British Columbia high school students using the higher of the high school reported final grade or the provincial reported final grade (the student must receive credit for the course).

High school diploma with four academic courses Courses do not need to be provincially examinable courses.

Arts & Kinesiology (Bachelor of Health Studies only)

  • English 12
  • One math or science course (List A)
  • One grade 12 language, social science or fine art course (List B)
  • One additional grade 12 course (Lists A or B)
 

Business Administration

  • English 12
  • Pre-calculus 12, Foundations of Math 12 or Principles of Math 12
  • One grade 12 language, social science or fine art course (List C)
  • One additional grade 12 course (List C)
 

85% or higher admission average: Admitted directly to the Faculty of Business Administration through the Excellence Program

65% - 84.99% admission average: Admitted to the Faculty of Business Administration as qualifying students

Education

  • English 12
  • One math or science course (List E)
  • One grade 12 language, social science or fine art course (List E)
  • One additional grade 12 course (List E)

Teacher Education Admission Profile required

Elementary Education or Secondary Business Education: Foundations of Math 12, Pre-Calculus 12 or Principles of Math 12 required

Secondary Education programs with a major or minor in Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics: Pre-Calculus 12 or Principles of Math 12 required

Engineering

  • English 12
  • Pre-Calculus 12 or Principles of Math 12*
  • Chemistry 12 
  • Physics 12

A minimum admission average of 70%-79.99% is required for admission to the general major.  80% or higher are admitted directly to their major of choice.

Calculus 12 is recommended

Fine Arts

  • English 12
  • Three additional approved Grade 12 courses (including Pre-calculus 11) (Lists A or B)

Fine Arts Supplementary Information:

  • BFA/CFA in Visual Arts and CFA in Indian Arts: Portfolio required. Deadline to submit the portfolio:  Fall- April 1; Winter- December 1
  • Bachelor of Music: Interview, music theory placement test and audition required
  • Bachelor of Music Education: Music theory test, audition and BMusEd Teacher Education Admission Profile required

Journalism

Two years Pre-Journalism in Faculty of Arts  

Kinesiology & Health Studies

Bachelor of Kinesiology

Bachelor of Sport & Recreation Studies

  • English 12
  • Pre-calculus 12 or Principles of Math 12
  • One of Biology 12, Chemistry 12, Physics 12
  • One additional grade 12 course (List D)
Foundations of Math 12 is also accepted as the math requirement (bullet #2) for the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Studies.

Nursing

A minimum of 70% is required in each of the prerequisite courses.
