Deadlines provided below are for the application and all supporting documents required for your admission.  Applications will not be processed until all required documents have been submitted.

Posted deadlines may be extended beyond the posted date until the program has reached capacity.

 

Domestic Students

Follow the steps below to get ready for university!



1) Accept your Offer of Admission

In your Admissions package, there is an Acceptance Form. You must complete and submit this form to the Admissions Office OR complete the form online HERE. This step is necessary before you attend your advising appointment because you won't be able to register in courses until your confirmation has been received. For quota programs (i.e., Education, Journalism and Nursing) this step is necessary to hold your spot in the program.

            * Nursing students: please check your acceptance letter for your steps to accept your offer.

 

Gap Year

Are you thinking of maybe working, traveling, or volunteering between high school and university? If so, we can save your admission and possibly defer the automatic entrance scholarships you received for one year! It is called a Gap Year, and you can learn more about the program here (pdf).

 

 

2) Keep your family in the loop!

3) Follow us on social media!   

Want to know what goes on at one of the great learning institutions in Canada? That’s right, we’re talking about the U of R! Take a walk with us and see what University life is really like- We’ll be going behind the scenes and then some.

4) If you recently graduated from high school, be sure to send us your final marks by August 1!

5) Apply for housing (or look for off-campus accommodations)

If you are needing a place to call home next year make sure you start looking early! We have over 1800 rooms split between five residence buildings on campus (the newest one was just completed August 2015!).

If on-campus living is not for you there are a lot of options off-campus, but still close to the University.

6) Budgeting & applying for scholarships and financial aid

There are many scholarships, awards and financial aid programs available to help you pay for your schooling.  We encourage you to apply for as many different programs as possible to maximize the funds you will receive. Don't forget to budget! Need Help? Click here!

7) Register in classes & academic advising

Admitted for Winter 2018? Contact your Faculty or Federated college directly to book an advising appointment.

High School Admits: Expect an invitation in April/March 2018 to URB and URB 2.0 events! These events will introduce you to campus and your Academic Advisor who will help you to register in classes. 

*Federated College students (Luther, Campion, FNUniv) will be contacted by their college regarding registration!
*Can't make it to these events? The faculties also plan additional back-up sessions just for that reason and offer advising over the phone too!

8) Register for Orientation

Orientation will help to jumpstart your first semester! You will learn about our campus, meet over 1,500 new students, spend the day getting to know your faculty, and attend exciting sessions.Orientation is geared towards all new students, including both undergraduate and graduate students. All participants will take part in many of the activities together, and also participate in specialized activities based on student type.

9) Get ready for your first day of class

Here's a list of things to remember before your first day of classes (e.g., parking pass, student id, class schedule, ect.)

10) Get involved on campus!

There is no shortage of on-campus programs and activities to keep you active, involved, and having fun!

5 Steps to Success


1) Obtain your Visa

Apply for your student visa. You will need your original acceptance letter to the University of Regina, and other supporting documents to apply. Check with the Canadian Embassy or Consulate nearest you on what you need to apply for a student visa. Do this early because it can take weeks to process a visa. If you are successful you will receive a letter of approval, which you need to obtain your study permit when entering Canada.

2) Find housing

The University of Regina has many options for housing. You can live by yourself, with a roommate, or in dormitory or apartment style housing. It is important to apply early as residence fills up quickly. If you prefer to live off-campus it is important that you have made arrangements before you arrive.

3) Register for classes

It is important to register as soon as possible to ensure your placement in your first choice of classes. You have the option of contacting your faculty advisor to help you choose your classes or registering on your own. If you are unable to attend classes that you have registered for, contact your advisor and have your classes dropped.

4) Register for Orientation

Orientation is crucial to your transition into university life. At orientation, you will get help obtaining your student ID card, applying for your health card and learn about many other important aspects of university life. Make sure to register before your departure.

5) Visit UR International

Once you have arrived in Regina, please make sure to come to UR International, located in College West 109. The office offers many services to international students and will be there to support you throughout your time at the University of Regina.
